Lovely to read about the community spirit in your mum's care home. How wonderful for her to see her Mum's old spirit shining through. I have always looked on my Mum's care home as a new family for her, although this realisation was initially a bit shocking for me. I have always endeavoured to learn the names of the people she lives with now and always chat to the other residents around her. When Mum is sleepy I can talk to her friends and hope that I break their day up for them too. I view the staff in the same way too as they are the ones who have the closer day to day contact instead of me. Mum has never said she's too busy, which would be lovely, but she has been fully engrossed in a game of Bingo so too busy to speak and I loved that she could concentrate for long enough to play.
